Case study
Le Creuset On The Go Display Stand
An eye-catching and functional freestanding retail display created to showcase Le Creuset’s new On The Go category of transportable food and drink containers.

Overview
A display built for a new category
Le Creuset required an eye-catching and functional freestanding retail display to showcase
its new On The Go category of transportable food and drink containers.
The display needed to attract customer attention, clearly communicate product names and
benefits, and provide an organised way to merchandise the range.
As the units would be used across both Le Creuset’s own branded retail estate and a variety of
retail environments, the display also needed to be adaptable to different store formats while
maintaining a strong and consistent brand aesthetic.
Initial design and development, 3D visualisation, MDF machining, PETG manufacture, material sourcing and preparation, assembly and final quality checks.
Satin white spray finishing of the MDF components, printed Foamex side panels and paper printed graphics.
Paper graphics produced in nine languages for different markets across the UK and mainland Europe.
Units manufactured and supplied through a rolling production and dispatch programme.

The process
From concept to rollout
Manufacture of the display involved a combination of DisplayMode’s in-house capabilities
and carefully coordinated specialist processes.
-
01
Design & Development
The display was developed to align with Le Creuset’s established brand identity while incorporating colours associated with the On The Go range.
The freestanding design incorporated prominent branding and graphic areas alongside dedicated product locators and a brochure/leaflet holder, allowing the products and supporting information to be presented together within a single display.
The development process began with concept sketches exploring the overall form, product positioning and graphic treatment. Following initial review and feedback, the preferred concepts were developed into detailed 3D visualisations, providing a clearer representation of the proposed finished display.
Once the design direction had been approved, a physical prototype was produced. This allowed the design, proportions, product positioning, accessibility and overall appearance of the unit to be assessed at full scale before production.
Any final amendments identified during the prototype stage were incorporated into the approved production specification before manufacture of the rollout units began.
-
02
CNC & MDF Manufacture
A range of materials were considered during development, with particular attention given to durability and suitability for use within high-traffic retail environments.
The final display was constructed predominantly from MDF, providing a robust main structure and a high-quality surface for the finished unit.
The MDF panels forming the main structure were CNC machined to create the required profiles, openings and assembly features accurately and consistently.
-
03
Satin-White Finish
Following machining and preparation, the MDF components received a satin white sprayed finish through a trusted specialist partner.
-
04
PETG Components
PETG was used to create the individual product locators and shelf-edge graphic holders, providing practical merchandising components that worked alongside the main MDF structure.
These PETG components were produced in-house by DisplayMode.
-
05
Printed Graphics
Printed Foamex panels and paper graphics were incorporated to provide branding and product communication. These specialist elements were produced by trusted manufacturing partners working to the approved project specification.
With units destined for different markets across the UK and mainland Europe, the paper graphics were produced in nine languages to support the wider rollout.
-
06
Assembly
DisplayMode managed the project from design development through to completed assembly. Our in-house work included the initial design and development, 3D visualisation, MDF machining, manufacture of the PETG components, sourcing and preparation of materials, assembly and final quality checks.
By managing these stages internally, we were able to maintain control over the fit and relationship between the structural, merchandising and graphic elements of the display while coordinating the specialist processes required from external partners.
DisplayMode coordinated the externally supplied elements alongside the in-house manufacturing process, bringing all components together for final assembly and inspection.
Once all manufactured, finished and printed components were available, the display units were brought together for final assembly at DisplayMode. The MDF structure, PETG product locators, graphic holders and printed elements were carefully positioned and assembled in accordance with the approved design.
Each unit was fitted with castors, helping it to be repositioned within the retail environment.

07
Quality Control & Dispatch
Each completed unit was inspected for:
- Graphic alignment
- Finish quality
- Product locator positioning
- Assembly quality
- Stability
- Overall appearance
- Consistency with the approved design
Following inspection and approval, the completed display stands were prepared for dispatch.
The displays were manufactured and supplied as part of a rolling production schedule, allowing completed units to be prepared and dispatched in line with the agreed rollout programme.
Units were collated for distribution across locations in the UK and mainland Europe, for use across both Le Creuset’s own branded retail environments and varying wholesale store formats.
In retail
Ready to merchandise
No customer-supplied components were required for incorporation into the finished display units.
The displays were manufactured and assembled by DisplayMode using the specified components and
materials sourced for the project, ready for the relevant Le Creuset products to be merchandised
within the retail environment.

The result
A consistent display for varied retail formats
The completed On The Go display provided Le Creuset with a dedicated freestanding merchandising
solution for introducing and presenting the new product category.
The combination of a robust MDF structure, purpose-made PETG product locators, strong branded graphics
and multilingual point-of-sale information created a consistent display concept that could be used
across a variety of retail environments.
The units were well received across the different store formats within Le Creuset’s estate, with the
rolling production programme supporting deployment across the UK and mainland Europe.
